Assalaamu alaykum,
the head of Ash-Shabaab (the youth), an Islamist group which now controls most of the south of Somalia has announced that ALL Muslims around the world are citizens of Somalia and anyone is free to go there and settle, if they choose joining in the efforts to establish the Shariah of Allah.

They have even said, unlike the more nationalistic clan loving Somalis, that they will marry their daughters to any brothers who come and share their wealth until people are established themselves and other than when the Taliban controlled Afghanistan, I have never heard of such generous help being offered to those wishing to make Hijrah.
On the down side, this is a country at war, which is likely to continue for several years to come so perhaps not the best destination for those brother with families, and there is no national infrastructure, i.e little hospitals or doctors, no currency, nothing really at all we would recognise as part of the modern world but perhaps that is a strength also but beware there is a serious famine in Somalia as well.

by the way, asalamualaikum, I am another brother (from the US) with hijra in mind. Glad to see I am not alone! although I never thought I was. May allah grant us success, amen.

i am looking for a way to go to somalia. i am alone, so i dont have to worry about a family. but i just dont know how or where to look, seriously no idea. i live in canada as an immigrant, but i have my home country passport (Bangladesh). ya akhi, let me know if u have any sort of suggestions, anything like where to start, or how to prepare for hijrah.
and keep me in ur du'a that Allaah shows me a way to making Hijrah for His sake..

ok so you probably speak english and possibly bengali?
do you speak arabic? it is not totally necessary but will be difficult if not as many somalis speak arabic as well as somali but not many speak english (and probably even less speak bengali).
next you get a plane to eritrea or kenya or yemen and find the local fisherman's villages and pay a brother to get you there. the shortest distance is from kenya, but that govt is hostile to the muslims, even though large parts of northern kenya are muslim (many somali).
eritrea is perhaps better as many of the leaders of the islamic courts live there and you might be able to pick up contacts.
yemen is another possibility, but be careful as the president of yemen plays a double game, sometimes supporting the muslims, sometimes the west, and when he is supporting the west his government sacrifices people considered expendable and locks up and executes those without local tribal links, i.e people like you and me.
that is best advice i can give you brother, a somali might be able to tell you more if he knows the right contacts.

i am learning arabic now, and by the time i get financially and otherwise prepared for the Hijrah, inshaAllaah i will have a working capability of communicating in arabic.
